NYC Wine & Food Festival

It’s 9:40 AM on a Friday and I am already surging with excitement. Not because it’s Friday (although that never hurt), but because I just bought two tickets to an event at the first-ever New York City Wine & Food Festival presented by The Food Network and Food & Wine magazine. This is a three-day affair starting on Friday, October 10th through Sunday October 12th. Some of the events being held are:

Chelsea Market After Dark hosted by Bobby Flay

TimesTalks (hosted by The New York Times) featuring Gordon Ramsay, Anthony Bourdain and Alice Waters

Viking Range and Macy’s present cooking demonstrations with your favorite food network stars like Giada de Laurentiis, Tyler Florence, Paula Dean, Bobby Flay and Alton Brown

You’re probably wondering which event I am attending. Well as I’ve said before, I’m all about variety in my food and drink, so I will be rocking out at the Midnight Music and Munchies event hosted by DailyCandy. This event is for the late-owls out there (starts at 10 pm – but come on, it’s on a Friday!) who like to eat, drink and listen to good music. Top chefs will be cooking up late-night snacks for the revelers, while professional mixologists stir up new cocktails to wash them down. This all set to the beat of great music hand-selected by Ken Friedman, co-owner of hotspot The Spotted Pig in the West Village. This from the Wine & Food Festival website description:

"And finally, a this-never-happens-treat: a rare, musical appearance by Tom Colicchio, who will play a set with downtown band Milton. Invite your gang. Make it a night."

I was excited before, but now I am counting down the days. An avid Top Chef fan myself, I view Tom Collichio as one of the most intimidating people on the show, so seeing him in this light should be extremely entertaining.

For a full description and list of chefs scheduled to appear, click here. All proceeds from this event benefit Share our Strength and the Food Bank for New York City. So I will be there getting my eat and drink on til the wee-hours of the morning, but at least this time I’m doing it for a good cause.

You should too!
