2009 International Chocolate Show in NYC

Chocolate-show ny If you love chocolate as much as I do, you have probably watched Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory and thought, "Wow, I would love to own an Oompa Loompa." And then your second thought would be, "imagine…all that space just filled with chocolate..imagine if that was real!" Well, this may not be exactly like Willy Wonka's, but 30,000 square feet of chocolate exhibitions is a damn close second.

The 12th annual International Chocolate Show is in town, and what better weekend than Halloween weekend? This will probably have more treats than tricks, but there is a chocolate fashion show, and that must definitely be tricky. We all remember that whole edible chocolate underwear thing…or is that just me? Either way, from Oct 30th – Nov 1st, you can skip the candy corn and head straight for the good stuff at the Chocolate Show.   Fashion-Chocolate-Show

If a Lara Croft outfit made entirely of chocolate doesn't appeal to you though, then come for the cooking demonstrations, chocolate samples, chocolate lounge or chocolate beauty pavilion. Last year at the Chocolate Show, many world-renowned pastry chefs came to display their chocolate creations. Jacques Torres of Jacques Torres Chocolates, Rich Capizzi of Per Se and Bouchon Bakery, and Zac Young of Butter just to name a few. And that delectable outfit to the right was made by Derek Poirier of Valrhona. Even if those names are unheard of to you, it's 3 days of chocolate. I feel as though it would be hard to leave disappointed if you're a true chocoholic.

For all the ladies out there, I feel as though I have to share my feelings about the Chocolate Beauty Pavilion. I have never been to this one, but I have gotten a chocolate-peppermint facial before in Hershey, PA (how fitting!) and it was amazing. Aside from the struggle of trying to eat my own face afterwards, it was a very relaxing treatment. The Chocolate Beauty Pavilion at the Chocolate Show offers similar treatments like masks, manicures, and wraps. They even sell chocolate-based or chocolate-flavored beauty products for you to use at home. I, for one, use chocolate-scented body wash almost every day; the best part of waking up is definitely not Folgers in this case (though I don't recommend eating your body wash).

Tickets are still available for this delectable event ($28 each), so snag a ticket or two, bring a friend and go stock up on all the chocolatey confections. And remember, it's Halloween weekend, so save the good chocolate for yourself and throw the foil-wrapped stuff at all the Miley Cyruses and Kanye Wests you can find.
