NYC Apple Day is This Sunday!

Apple day The Lower East Side has been home to many local food shops and mom and pop stores – and I'm starting to like their whole LES is more attitude. First there was Pickle Day, and next week there's Apple Day! So powerful, yet, so simple..

Brought to you by the Lower East Side Business Improvement District (LES BID) and the Mark Miller Gallery, the second annual Apples on Orchard event takes place this Sunday, October 18th from 11 am to 4:30 pm. Where? On Orchard. Duh. Believe it or not, that's how the street got it's name – there used to be a real orchard there during New York's golden years. Golden Delicious years I bet. There will be exhibitions, live entertainment, walking tours for adults, face painting for kids, and of course – samples! From apple pie to apple cider, with chicken apple sausage and chocolate apple truffles, there will be plenty of samples to go around. Participants from the festival include: Apple Growers Association of New York, Roni Sue's Chocolate, Greenmarket, Red Jacket Orchard, Jeffrey's Meats, Roasting Plant and more.

I think it's about time we celebrated our glorious state's fruity mascot, and what better way than to eat it?? Remember..an apple a day…
