Some Bites From Restaurant Week – Hurricane Club

Out of all of my RW excursions the past 2 weeks, I was most satisfied with The Hurricane Club; the portions were epic, and even though there was a supplement cost to some dishes (normally not something I enjoy), the food was worth it.

I have always been an advocate of The Hurricane Club, despite it's supremely expensive drink menu, which is a real shame too because their drinks are really good, but paying $15 for one Mai Tai is NOT so good. The coconut shrimp is always a hit amongst my friends, and the spring rolls were pretty tasty too, but they need to rethink the mustard dipping sauce that it's served with. The spicy mayo that's served with the coconut shrimp is way better..

Doesn't look like it, but there's shrimp in there.

The calamari salad was basically a gigantic bowl of fried calamari served over cabbage, spicy peanuts, and carrots in a lime dressing. It was NOT what I was expecting, but I really liked it. I mean, it's fried calamari how bad could it be? But the salad itself was good too and I thought the combo of spicy peanuts and lime juice dressing was perfect for it.

XO Chinese long beans were not the best. I may be all alone on this one, but I think the XO beans at Tao are amazing, and these couldn't hold a candle to them; they were too soft and drowned in a sweet and sour sauce reminiscent of a Chinese takeout chain. No. Keep that sauce where it belongs: in Lunch Special #6.

XO Beans…mehhh..

The Thai coffee ice cream was prob my fave RW dessert so far. I told myself "just a bite" and that turned into about 7 or 8 bites. Refreshing, cool, with just a nice hint of coffee. Ahhh…summer. There was also some sort of sesame brittle in there that was like crack. I think that might have been why I couldn't stop eating it. Sweet, salty and crunchy? I didn't stand a chance.
