Brunch at: Gelso & Grand

Not too often do I find myself in Little Italy, but I have to admit, I really love it during the holiday season. Reminds me of when I was younger and used to frequent the area with friends to Christmas shop (and food shop). We always ended the night with an espresso and tiramisu at Ferraras. Ahh memories.

Gelso & Grand is located on Mulberry and Grand, and do you know what Gelso means in Italian??

MULBERRY.

Mind = blown.

Italian immigrants in the 1880’s settled in this area, opening up a plethora of food markets and shops, hence the name “Little Italy”. Gelso & Grand is keeping the tradition alive with handmade pasta, wood-fired brick oven pizza, and all around deliciousness. The place was bumpin even at 2:30 pm on a Sunday, so I’d recommend reservations, but either way the turnover is quick. Let’s not forget this is a touristy area.

Below for more photos – trying out a new look! Hope you like it.
