Lunch at Yoon Haeundae Galbi

Before you ask, no, I’m not entirely sure how to pronounce the word that starts with an “H”.

In my mind, it’s “Hyundai” like the car, but I am almost positive that’s not right. Or maybe it is and then the place gets filled with confused people looking to buy a car.

My point is, don’t listen to me on the pronunciation, but definitely listen to me on the food.

It should be noted that this is one of those places where you will want to bring a few friends. It’s definitely a lot of food and the plates come at you quickly, but the cooking process is spread out nicely, giving you some time in between courses so you’re not overwhelmed.

And you don’t have to take pictures like I do, so you should be ok.

The meat and the dumplings at Yoon are what stood out to me most. The Galbi Dumplings were MASSIVE in weight and diameter; I swear, I don’t think I’ve seen dumplings that plump before. And delicious to boot. I wanted an extra order just to take home but I behaved myself.

My other favorite part was towards the end of the meal, after they cooked all the meat. They add fresh noodles to the sides of the grill, where all the meat juice has collected in the little divots. So they cooked the noodles in meat juice. And then I cried tears of joy.

If you find yourself looking for some great KBBQ, I suggest making your way over to Yoon Haeundae Galbi. Just don’t expect to find any cars.
