All Hail Restaurant Week!

That’s right everyone, my favorite holiday is approaching. Ok, so maybe it’s not actually a holiday, but it damn well should be. When else can you have a prix-fixe, three-course meal at Del Posto, Nobu, or Mia Dona? From July 21-25 and July 28-Aug 1, you can visit some of your favorite (or completely-out-of-your-price-range) restaurants for merely $35 per person ($24.07 for lunch). Over 200 restaurants in NYC are participating, which means I have a lot to do in very little time. Last year I made it to Indochine, Butter, and Moda for restaurant week, but I have yet to decide where I will be going this year. Out of those three, I would highly recommend Butter, mildly recommend Indochine, and not recommend Moda. The food at Indochine was inconsistent, but some dishes were definitely memorable (beef carpaccio, basil chicken), while Moda was just OK. Their butternut squash soup needed salt and my pasta dish (penne with sausage) was nothing I couldn’t find in Little Italy.

This year, I have heard excellent things about Centro Vinoteca, where Anne Burrell is the head chef and currently starring in a new show on the Food Network entitled "Secrets of a Restaurant Chef." With all that on her plate, will she still be able to put out a quality meal? Well that is what I’m determined to find out.

Reservations have already begun on June 26, so if you want to get a reservation at the more popular places, I suggest calling immediately. Also note that some of these restaurants are so sought-after, they only serve prix-fixe menus for lunch. For a full list of participating restaurants, click here. Some of them even have their prix-fixe menus online at their websites. Happy Eating!
