This past Sunday, after I caught a Broadway show with my mom (we saw In The Heights– I highly recommend it), we decided to grab an early dinner at Heartland Brewery. Even though there are better restaurants in the Theater District area, my mom is a picky eater and doesn’t stray too far from burgers, steaks and salads, so Heartland Brewery it was! The food was decent, but not the reason I’m writing.
On September 12th 2008, from 5 pm- 10 pm, Heartland Brewery will present their 3rd annual NY Brewfest at South Street Seaport’s Pier 16 & 17. This festival is a sampling event, where patrons will be given a wristband and one four-ounce glass at the entrance, and have the opportunity to taste over 300 types of hand-crafted beers. "The festival is a celebration of Craft Beer and will showcase samplings from New York State’s outstanding breweries. We have expanded our participating craft breweries this year beyond NYS borders…to breweries throughout the US with emphasis in the Northeast region."
There will also be four live bands performing during the festival, and most of the area will be tented in the event of inclement weather. And in my opinion, you shouldn’t have a beer festival without food, so Spanky’s BBQ will be catering the event. Beer and BBQ = a lovely marriage.
