I love chocolate more than I can say, and I always have, but this past year or so, I have garnered a general appreciation for all things sweet and indulgent. Case in point: I can eat an entire meal of rib-sticking food, drink a liter of wine, and STILL somehow manage to squeeze in a few bites of "something sweet." I don't know how I do it. Dedication? Curiosity? Gluttony? All of the above, probably. This is why I am super excited for the Cake & Shake cart that set up shop in Washington Square Park last week. With their high end, organic ingredients, eco-friendly packaging and tempting flavors, I imagine the cart has been mobbed with hungry, environmentally conscious New Yorkers. Just read some of these cupcake flavors and tell me that they don't get your insulin levels rising:
Yummy Nut: Peanut Butter cake, banana mousse, and milk chocolate frosting
Heaven Split: Banana cupcake, chocolate hazelnut mousse, caramel frosting
Mr Incredible: Double decker brownie with pecan mousse and salted caramel frosting
Classy Diner: New York style strawberry cheesecake, pistachio mousse, shaved white chocolate
Hot Tottie: Almond cake, butterscotch mousse, toffee frosting
Well, I know what I'm buying myself for any random day my birthday. Cupcakes are $3 each, and if they're as good as they sound, I think Cake & Shake will have quite the following. They obviously have milkshakes too, which are $5 each and come in flavors like Salted Caramel, Madagascar Vanilla (I believe Red Mango has this flavor for their yogurt now too..?), White Peach, and Huckleberry (going out on a limb and saying this is a blue-colored shake).
The Cake & Shake cart is located on the Northeast corner of Washington Square Park from 9 am to 9 pm, seven days a week. Convenient cupcakes?? Sweet merciful crap I can't wait!
