It's kind of illogical that I'm not doing anything for FNO tonight (I went to FIT, I'm going to Fashion Week..), but alas, for those of you who are heading out tonight and want to make a pitstop and refuel – there are plenty of NYC hot spots that are offering specials to honor FNO. Among them is Betel, the modern Southeast Asian restaurant in the West Village is doing a "Fashion Flight" of bites and cocktails. Yes, it's Fashion Week, so you only get a few bites and liquor. When in Fashion Week, do as the models do.
$19 gets you a flight of 3 bites paired with 3 cocktails designed by Mixologist Mary Zayaruzny. AND you also get an extra glass of champagne to kick off the night. Not too shabby for $19. Menu is below:
• Chicken Betel Leaf with roasted shallot & eggplant relish lemongrass & mint
• Pork and Scallop Cilantro Dumplings with garlic chives and chili oil
• Grilled Bo La Lot with Vietnamese mint and red nahm jim
Each flight is paired with a short cocktail, and some of their cocktails sound divine. The Naghi Citrus Fizz sounds yum - Three Olives Citrus Vodka, Prosecco, Naghi Pear, lemongrass syrup and lemongrass powder. Or the Blackberry Passionfruit Caipiroska - 42 Below Passionfruit Vodka, Lime, Blackberries, Palm Sugar).
So put on your Friday best (if there is such a thing), strut your stuff and throw back a few. All in the name of overpriced fashion.
