Monday Smorgasbord

Happy Monday. This day went by so damn fast I'm still not sure if it actually happened or not. But here you go anyway..

Foodie Fun – Week of 3/28

Food Cart Walking Tour: Guide Brian Hoffmann from eatthisny.com will take you on a walking tour of some of the city's best food carts. The cart spots rotate, but expect to try things like falafel, Korean BBQ, dumplings and jerk chicken. Click here to read more and purchase tickets.

Italian Home Cooking at Eataly: I didn't even know Eataly had a cooking school, but I'm not surprised. They have everything Italian that you could possibly want. Anyway, at La Scuola di Eataly, you will learn from Julia della Croce (author of "Italian Home Cooking: 125 Recipes To Comfort Your Soul") how to whip up an Italian feast. Participants will get to enjoy their food with wine when class is finished. Click here for info.

Salmon Week at Aquavit: Today through next Friday (Apr 8) you can experience the versatility of salmon. Standard dishes like gravlax will be offered, as well as more adventurous types like salmon pudding (umm). The salmon smorgasbord is $28 for lunch and $35 for dinner, much like restaurant week. Aquavit, 65 East 55th St btwn Mad and Park, 212-307-7311

Free Sandwich at Golosi: Stop by the UES pizza shop on Thursday between 12 and 2 pm for a free Guastedra sandwich (filled with mortadella and grilled veggies) showcasing Santa Fe Gourmet's Original Chipotle Mayonnaise. I've had this mayo AND the sandwich before (separately, not together) and I have to say I think it will be a good combo. The chipotle mayo is not very spicy, so if you're sensitive to heat, this will work out well for you. 1304 Second Ave btwn 68th and 69th sts.

Food for a Good Cause at Cadaques - This week is Dine In Brooklyn week (similar to Restaurant Week) and tomorrow Cadaques Tapas Bar in my native Williamsburg will donate 30 percent of it's sales to the Japanese Red Cross. You can also donate more if you so choose.. 188 Grand St btwn Bedford and Driggs, 718-218-7776

World's Largest Bake Sale – Hosted by none other than Sandra Lee, the Food Network's quintessential homemaker best known for her cocktails and ridiculously over the top "tablescapes", will be joined by the likes of Emeril Lagasse and Mario Batali for this tasty charity event. Bring your change! Grand Central Terminal at 11:30 am.
