More BBQ! Chef Curtis Brown (formerly of famed restaurant Bubby's) opens The Cardinal today in the East Village. Named after North Carolina's State Bird, The Cardinal will be serving up saucy, Southern-style BBQ like Memphis ribs, Texas brisket, Pulled Pork, and Sweet Potato Pancakes with pecan butter (!!) Cool Cravings Event this Saturday, August 27th from 2-8 pm. Clean Plates and Openhouse Gallery are teaming up to bring you a naturally sweet, frozen dessert tasting. They handpicked eight of New York and Long Island's all natural dessert artisans including Brewla Bars, La Cremeria, The Juice Press, Raw Ice Cream Company, The Shaved ice Shop, The Soft Serve Fruit Co., Stogo and Sky Ice. Top it all off with some vegan dark chocolate from NibMor and you'll be amazed how sweet healthy eating can be. A portion of the proceeds go to Wellness In The Schools, a not for profit that inspires healthy eating, environmental awareness and fitness as a way of life for students at New York City public schools. Cupcake Cakewalk Cupcake Tasting this Sunday, August 28th from 2-8 pm. On the other end of the spectrum, there are cupcakes. Stop by Openhouse Gallery on Sunday to undo all the healthy treats you learned about on Saturday. Sample cupcakes from the city's top spots like ChikaLicious, Robicelli's, Alice's Tea Cup, and Billy's Bakery, then vote on your fave. Tickets available exclusively on Gilt City for $20. 

The Pig Roast at Hearth is almost over, so make your reservations now! Every Tuesday during the summer, Hearth hosts a family-style Pig Roast, where you can enjoy your little piggy in a variety of ways, from salad with bacon vinaigrette, to the roasted suckling pig, to a fruit pie made with…yup…pork fat. The three course menu is $48, and wine/beer pairings an additional $22.
