Happy #NationalTacoDay via Street Taco

Another food holiday is upon us.

Feel free to thank the social media overlords for creating National Taco Day on October 4th. It makes a lot of sense, I’m sure.

Still, I’ll take any excuse to celebrate. I know I gave a roundup of my 10 favorite tacos very recently (due to another random food holiday probably), so I’d like to promote something different for National Taco Day: a burrito.

CUE GASP.

What can I say? I like to break the rules.

I visited Street Taco last week (quickly becoming a new fave of mine), and was presented with a special “breakfast burrito” with scrambled eggs, grilled onions, pickled jalapeƱos, avocado, pico, crispy potatoes, Monterey Jack cheese and charred jalapeƱo aioli, all stuffed and grilled in a big, fat flour tortilla ($12). You can add meat for $3 too, so obviously I added carne asada. And here’s the fun part: it’s only served late night from 11 pm – 2 am. BRILLIANT. Think of it as a “drunk eats” situation, which goes along well with their late night happy hour (menu here). Talk about ultimate drunk food – you eat it with your hands, it’s a little greasy, a little spicy, and a lot delicious.

Street Taco has awesome margaritas too – and they’re only $7 during HH! So technically, you could just hang there for dinner, imbibe, and then eat again around 11. Who am I to tell you how to live?

Completely unrelated, but the Mexican street corn and fried chicken tacos are NOT to be missed either.

Happy National Taco Day!
