Let’s be real: there are TOO MANY beauty products out there. We live in a world of overconsumption and I am definitely guilty of overindulging by way of shopping sometimes. I bought a few things at the Sephora sale recently, and I also tried some products from various brands on Amazon. Some get a “meh” and promptly disappear into the depths of my medicine cabinet… and others? They earn a permanent place on my (already crowded) vanity.
Here are 7 beauty things I’ve been genuinely obsessed with lately – from drugstore finds to bougie booty masks. Yes, a booty mask; I judge me, too.
1. DRMTLGY Physical Tinted Moisturizer SPF 44
This stuff is basically a dewy Instagram filter in a bottle (with SPF). It gives dry, aging skin a radiant, hydrated glow while evening out tone with just enough coverage. Oily-skinned friends, they do have a matte version too, but for me, this one’s a dream. I wrote all about my winter skin struggles here, where I discovered this brand and how much it helped.
2. Guinot Longue Vie Eye Cream
I got my first-ever facial at Guinot’s NYC headquarters (I know, late bloomer, I don’t like people touching my face), and they sent me home with this eye cream (and some other fun stuff). Let me tell you: I’m hooked. It’s been around forever — which usually means it works — and I use it religiously day and night. The smell reminds me of my Safta (grandma), which makes me think she used to use this brand, which would make sense, because she was ALL about #skincare before it became a thing. And let me tell you, she had the SOFTEST skin well into her 80’s.
3. Catrice Under Eye Brightener
A pink color corrector from the drugstore that works better than half the high-end stuff I’ve tried. I layer it under concealer and it legit erases my under-eye darkness (or as close to it as possible – mine are pretty horrific no matter how much sleep I get). Amazon has it, and since it’s so cheap ($5), you can easily order one for you, one for a friend, and one for backup in case you lose the original one.
4. Tower 28 GetSet Blur + Set Matte Powder Blush
This blush does. not. budge. It’s a powder formula, but whatever they do to this one makes it STAY there. Forever. Ok not forever but I have yet to meet a blush that doesn’t fade off of my face within a couple hours. This one lasts a long time and the color I got is like a hot pink (Feliz Fresca), so a little goes a long way. Don’t go full clown. Unless that’s your thing.
5. Glossier You: Doux
If you’re obsessed with that warm, woody “fancy hotel” scent (think Santal 33/The Edition in Miami, The One Hotel, etc), Doux is for you. It’s cozy, clean, and somehow lasts all day without being overpowering. I love Glossier’s original “Glossier You” for Summer MORE honestly, because it’s a cleaner, lighter scent, but I may be switching over to this for a bit. I can’t resist it!
6. K18 AirWash Dry Shampoo
I didn’t believe a wet dry shampoo could work this well, but here we are. It smells clean, adds volume, and leaves no chalky residue — unless you spray too far, in which case you might get some white droplets. Just toss on a robe or towel over your clothes and go to town. I love this stuff.
7. Maely’s B-Tight Lift & Firm Booty Mask
I’m embarrassed to admit I like this, but I do. It tingles (okay, it warms…aggressively), but I swear my booty and the backs of my thighs look a little smoother and firmer after consistent use. Is it a long term solution? No, and I’ve read similar reviews that say the same, but if you commit to a daily routine, it does help with cellulite appearance! Just in time for summer. They also have a money back guarantee, so you can try it for 2 weeks and if you don’t see results, just ship it back and your card won’t be charged.
