This week in food looks like…cheap eats and prix fixes!
Places I'd Like To Try ASAP:
Buvette – Ever been to a French-inspired "microeatery"? Neither have I. Chef Jody Williams (of Gottino) puts her spin on these small plates like steak tartare on toast points with capers and cornichons, croque madame, and caramelized apple tarte tatin for dessert. 42 Grove st btwn Bedford and Bleecker st, 212-255-3590
La Birreria - 'Tis the season of beer gardens, and this one sits atop Eataly in the Flatiron district. The line is always ridiculously long, but I will wait it out one day…
Places YOU Should Try ASAP:
Blondies – This wing-haven on the UWS is simply delicious. I was there on Friday night with a few friends and a bucket of wings. Yes bucket. 50 wings + 30 minutes = 0 left. The S'mores Blondie dessert is also ridiculously good in a gluttonous sort of way.. 212 West 79th st btwn Broadway and Amsterdam, 212-362-4360
DBGB Kitchen and Bar is offering free sundaes during lunch and dinner every Monday this summer. Flavors include strawberry mango, cherry chocolate, and lemon pistachio. YUM. 299 Bowery btwn Houston and 1st st., 212-933-5300
Flex Mussels will be serving a special prix fixe menu all through summer for $20. Monday-Friday from 5:30-7 pm, you can get one of four select draft beers, an order of fries and unlimited mussels in your choice of broth (dijon and white wine; olive oil, tomato and garlic; or classic white wine and herbs). Get to Flexin'. 154 W 13th st btwn 6th adn 7th aves, 212-229-0222
Harlem Tavern is opening this week – hooray for more massive indoor/outdoor beer gardens! Here are the numbers: seats 350, 7,000 sq ft, 80 different beers. Blam. Click here for more info and pics 301 West 116th st, corner of Frederick Douglass Blvd
