This week in food looks like…carts, trucks and deals. Hollerrr.
Places I'd Like To Try ASAP:
Luke's Lobster – I'm not even a big fan of lobster rolls, but the lobster roll craze is getting to me, what can I say? (3 locations – Google it!)
Stivale – New Italian spot that boasts a rather tasty menu. Click here to view. 308-310 Bleecker St, 212-675-2009
Places YOU Should try ASAP:
David Burke Kitchen - I have two words for you: Monkey Bread. Soft, gooey bread drenched in caramel sauce, pecans, bananas and a vat of whipped cream on the side. Literally. 23 Grand St nr 6th ave, 212-201-9119
Asiadog – I had my first taste of Asiadog a couple weeks ago and I think I'm in love with the Mash (spicy ketchup, jalapeno mustard, salt and pepper potato chips). 66 Kenmare St btwn Mott and Elizabeth, 212-226-8861
Foodie Fun
Maialino Happy Hour starting Wednesday, June 8th from 4:30-6:30 pm. Pizza, wine, meatballs, pasta…I'm ok with it.
Eddie's Pizza Truck is launching a cart this week (truck minus wheels) and will be testing it out in Midtown and on the UES. I used to go to Eddie's in Long Island and I swear it is the thinnest pizza I've ever had in my life - I don't know how it holds toppings, but it works. Menu here.
Chubby Chinese Girl's sandwich challenge winner the "Chubby Porky" today at Cer Te. The sandwich costs $8.95 and consists of beer and soy sauce-braised pork belly, watercress, scallions, toasted sesame seeds, and sweet sesame sauce on toasted brioche bread. nomnomnom. Wonder if there will ever be a Skinny Pig sandwich??
Beware the oyster-craze! Every day from 5-8 pm, Le Comptoir will offer oysters for $1 each, and after 8 pm the oysters are $1 at the bar all night. There is another special for $10 that pairs three oysters with a glass of wine.
Wafels & Dinges is bringing deliciousness to the Seaside Heights Boardwalk this summer; they will be setting up a cart at the entrance of the Big Top Arcade (1020 North Boardwalk) on weekends, and on June 15th, it will be open every day until midnight.
