Lunch at: Opry City Stage

Nashville has been on my bucket list for a really long time. I haven’t been able to get there yet, but thankfully we have Opry City Stage in Times Square, a spin off of the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

You all know how much I loathe Times Square, but this place is so fun and I loved the space – totally makes you forget that you’re in the sinkhole of Manhattan. Not to mention, the food is solid. I had a couple small complaints (poutine needs gravy!) but believe me, it beats most of the options in this area.

If I had to pick my ideal meal, I’d start with the pimiento cheese and Saltine crackers, then get the Two Step meat platter (brisket burnt ends, ribs, pulled pork), mac and cheese, and the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. The chicken is from Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken, so let’s just say they know what they’re doing. You also need to end your meal with the Salted Monkey Bread or the Rocky Road pudding. If you don’t, you fucked up. And you’ll need to come back.

The best part? They play live music EVERY DAY. There’s an actual stage, and every seat in the house has a great view. Lots of country cover bands singing your faves. Personally, I’m dying to go back for some Johnny Walker and Johnny Cash.
